We are using the Behringer USB FCA610 sound card and have noticed that Cart 2 drops it audio midway through the cart playing the song

However this only ever happens in autofade mode

Myriad V4.26

Anyone suggest anything ?
Or has anyone else had this issue ?

Paul Moore

HI Paul,

First thing is probably check in Audio Settings that all your cart players are in SMX mode?

Hi Peter, The SMX Box is ticked, so its not that ;-)
The sound card is only a couple of months old so I doubt its that either....

Any other thoughts ?

Hi Paul,

Good that the tick box is ticked - but in the list below, is it showing that you are using the "SMX:..." version of the soundcard (has the "SMX" prefix?

Bugger - that was my main thought Sad

I'd try the usual suspects then of checking for any updated drivers for both the device itself and also the USB (motherboard drivers etc.) - otherwise, try moving to a different USB port as that should cause a redetect. .Then reboot a could of times (to make sure the device order has settled) and repoint myriad to it and see if that helps.

Hi Paul,

if this is the rack-mount Behringher device - we have had reports from another station of instability with this sound device.

In their case playback would stop completely, almost like it was disconnecting from the USB buss for a period of time, as you can imagine - Myriad is not too happy with having its sound-card removed midway through usage.

We have recommended to them that they try updated Motherboard Firmware for USB driver updates, and a lot of cooling as they have a tendency to run hot.

These units should be the same as the FCA610 that we have tested, but we have not tested the 1616.

Our units are the free standing ones, not rack mounted and only drop the audio when in autofade and only for Voice tracked shows..
Very strange, But I am sure we will get to the bottom of it.

Paul,

The FCA1616 is the larger unit which in recent times looks like it has been changed from the Rackmount version to a freestanding one. This is the same unit as we have had reports of similar problems, the FCA610 is the smaller unit that we have tested.

You can also try in Myriad Manager - run a Play Logs report - in there it will show you the cart player used for each item. You can then see if there is some consistency in when the audio is dropped.
Do people leave the Myriad 4 fader down (for editing and preview), and does Myriad occasionally need player 4 during these shows??

Just a thought.
