I briefly thought that after typing that, but double checked and it is indeed labelled as 'Psquared' not 'P Squared'

Hi Andy,

Next thing to try is to run Myriad in Studio 2 in Debug Mode and have a look at the debug logs to see what the last thing it's doing is - this will hopefully point us in the right direction.

Make a copy of the Myriad icon on your desktop and edit the properties of the new one to add /DEBUG to the end of the line that shows the .exe name - if you have quotes on the exe then put the /debug after the quotes - i.e.

     .....\Myriad3.exe" /DEBUG

When you next run Myriad it will create a c:\DebugFiles folder and will write into this folder a set of files describing what it's up to. Once Myriad fails, check that folder, sort by Last modified and look at the very bottom of the very last file - if you can cut and paste the last few lines here we can hopefully help you work out whats going on Smile

Once you've finished with Debug, make sure you delete that icon as it can cause Myriad to run slowly so it's not something you want to leave around for people to accidentally use!

Sorry I don't quite understand, I've created a copy of the ''myriad3'' .exe file. But when I go to properties to change the name windows will not allow me to use " / " or " " " in the file name. Am I doing that in the right place?

Hi Andy,

You are not alone.  I had exactly the same thing happen only this morning.  The system crashed right back to 'black-screen' and I had to re-start the system from the Windows 7 start-up.

Has anyone else had continous problems with Myriad V3/Autotrack Pro/Windows 7?

Since we had our new system installed just before last Xams we have had continuing problems.  There is no consistency with the crashes. Some times it is the above.  Sometimes the Log screen freezes.  Sometimes the Log disappears all together and the system has to be rescheduled.  Sometimes we get white screen both in automation and when it is being manually used.  Sometimes Myriad just stops working without explaination.

Sometimes the system will run without problems for 1-2 weeks.  Sometimes - as today - it will crash within an hour of the previous crash.

PSquared have been supportive and we have been sending them files of data for them to analyse.  They have made some useful suggestions that have improved some aspects of performance.  But they do not seem to be able to get to the root of the problem.

Their latest suggestion is to move to the new beta version of the system.  But I am wary of 'beta' versions as there is the risk that trial users are there to de-bug the system before general release and it may just make the problems worse.

Any advice would be welcome.  It is all very frustrating and annoying.

It's ok easy mistake to make - it's not the EXE you need to alter, just make a copy of the shortcut icon on the desktop and then edit the properties of that icon.  If it won't let you make a copy of the icon then right click on the actual exe and click Create Shortcut so you can alter the properties. Then drag that shortcut onto the desktop so it's easy to find Smile

We've changed a few things round with our setup and have moved the Audiowall,Direcoty and Myriad folders onto a seperate machine acting as a server which is left on.

Both the Studio PC and Edit PC now see those files without a problem. It's quite bizare because in theory none of the settings are any different so I'm a bit baffled as to why it now works. (not that I'm complaining!)

In the long run the setup is more versatile for us so we'll stick with this but I did manage to get the debug files, and am very curious to find the route of the problem even though we've found a work around just incase a similar problem were to occur in the future.

As there are a few debug files which one are you looking for and I will post?

Thanks all for your advice

Hi all,

Are you logging on to the 2 machines with the same Windows username?  Do you have to manually enter a username and password to get into Myriad?

If the answer to these 2 questions is no, then it is possible that you have a corrupted user in the P Squared directory.  To check this, we will need to turn off the automatic Myriad Logon.

Run Myriad as you have been with a temporary set of file locations, then click on Settings > Myriad Settings > Myriad Settings.  Choose the General Settings tab and turn off the option Attempt to Login to the Directory with the Windows Login Name.  Now try setting the file locations to the correct folders and restarting Myriad.

Log in with a differnt Myriad username  If this works, then the problem may be with the user profile in the Directory.  Try logging in manually with the old name and see if you get the error.

Assuming the problem is with the usename, you have 2 options.  Trying a Repair of the Directory.mdb with the Emegency recovery tool, and deleting and recreating the User in Myriad Manager.

Regards,

Andrew

Just another thought as well - on the machine previously acting as "Server" you could try running up an Admin Command prompt and entering

     net config server /autodisconnect:-1

This stops Windows from disconnecting connections that it thinks are dormant - this sometimes throws Client PC's and it takes 2 goes to get them to reconnect. To test this though you would need to move the data back, and if you're happy the way it is now then best just to leave it Smile
