Hi Glen, using XP on both machines.
From the Edit PC I can go to network places and open up the shared files from the Studio PC no problem. I've even created new files within these locations from the edit pc to make sure I've got write permissions.
I agree though I do feel it's a setting or permission I'm missing within windows rather than myriad

it may just be some path settings that are out in myriad settings.
If you close myriad on edit machine and go to your myriad programmes group in start and select emergency tool you can reset data paths using that it might cure it.

Andy...
I occasionally get the same message pop up our rack PC that runs Myriad overnight. It is a network problem, usually because the network card as gone to sleep or, in my case, when the network switch polls to check the ports when the Myriad PC in question is 'idle'.
Check the network card(s) are setup to run at full speed duplex at all times, turn off any sleep options this will help greatly and make sure too that any screen savers, and power saving options are switch off so the PC(s) remain alert 24/7/365!
Also, how are you sharing the drives on the PC?
Are you setting up a shared folder on the main PC and them mapping it to, as an example 'M:/' on the remote, or are you using the convention preferred by PSqaured? The former is prone to failing if the other PC is switched off and you'd then have to reboot. The latter is persistent and keeps trying until it makes a connection... in theory.
This still requires sharing a drive on the main PC and 'mapping' it only in the Myriad software in this way for each principle folder; like the following although use your own settings here... \\myriad-01\psquared\directory, \\myriad-01/psquared\myriad, and \\myriad-01\psquared\audiowall. This is a far more robust way of mapping as it doesn't require a drive letter and, the Myriad software will always find the folder with the required data.
One final thing... and it's only sprung to mind while typing this, I have noted that on occasions when setting up a new instance of Myriad and pointing the date to the correct folders on the server PC (Myriad-01) all is well. However, when you open the instance of Myriad you just installed, it struggles to find the 'directory'. Check the 'Directory Setting' in Myriad under the setting tab and see what location it is looking to find this directory. I have experienced it looking of a local instance on the PC (i.e C:\psquared\directory), if it is then change it to where it should be looking for the shared directory (i.e. \\myriad-01\psquared\directory). Why it does this I don't know but it has occured on a couple of times in the past for me.
I hope this helps.
Roger.

Hi Andy,
This does sound like a file sharing permissions issue. Are you using simple or advanced sharing options? If you are unsure this can be found by opening a my computer window and doing to Tools > Folder Options. In the View tab you then need to scroll to the bottom of the advanced settings window where you should find the 'Use simple file sharing' option. Ticked = simple, unticked = advanced.
I you use advanced you can then properties the shared folder and look under the security tab, i would advise setting full control for all users including the 'Everyone' user (which may need to be added) and then ticking the 'Replace permission entries on all child objects...' option and clicking ok. when this has finished processing you should be done.
If this doesn't work i would install the latest VB runtime libraries for windows xp and give that a go. A lost can be found here:

Hope this helps,
John

Thanks for latest tips guys...
I am sharing the folders in the recommended manner rather than a mapped drive. The extension looks something like \\Myriad-01\P Squared\Audiowall or Directory/Myriad.
I have tried advanced sharing permissions as suggested so that all users should have full access
I've also set the network card to be 'always on.'
However... still no joy :-(

As a side note:
To test, I temporarily switched the directories (audiowall, directory, myriad) on Myriad-02 to be set to a 'test' local location. Then on a third machine with a myriad trial I pointed this towards the tempory set of files.
This worked 100% perfectly with relitively simple sharing permissions. There must be something glaringly wrong I'm doing or not doing on Myriad-01 (the studio PC).

quote << The extension looks something like \\Myriad-01\P Squared\Audiowall or Directory/Myriad. >>
This might be too obvious... but in the above there is a space between the 'P' and the 'S' if Myriad setups the folders and files there's no space between the 'P' and 'S', so its reads 'PSqaured' and not 'P Sqaured'
It may be nothing or it might be something!!!

I briefly thought that after typing that, but double checked and it is indeed labelled as 'Psquared' not 'P Squared'

Hi Andy,
Next thing to try is to run Myriad in Studio 2 in Debug Mode and have a look at the debug logs to see what the last thing it's doing is - this will hopefully point us in the right direction.
Make a copy of the Myriad icon on your desktop and edit the properties of the new one to add /DEBUG to the end of the line that shows the .exe name - if you have quotes on the exe then put the /debug after the quotes - i.e.
.....\Myriad3.exe" /DEBUG
When you next run Myriad it will create a c:\DebugFiles folder and will write into this folder a set of files describing what it's up to. Once Myriad fails, check that folder, sort by Last modified and look at the very bottom of the very last file - if you can cut and paste the last few lines here we can hopefully help you work out whats going on
Once you've finished with Debug, make sure you delete that icon as it can cause Myriad to run slowly so it's not something you want to leave around for people to accidentally use!

We've changed a few things round with our setup and have moved the Audiowall,Direcoty and Myriad folders onto a seperate machine acting as a server which is left on.
Both the Studio PC and Edit PC now see those files without a problem. It's quite bizare because in theory none of the settings are any different so I'm a bit baffled as to why it now works. (not that I'm complaining!)
In the long run the setup is more versatile for us so we'll stick with this but I did manage to get the debug files, and am very curious to find the route of the problem even though we've found a work around just incase a similar problem were to occur in the future.
As there are a few debug files which one are you looking for and I will post?
Thanks all for your advice

Hi all,
Are you logging on to the 2 machines with the same Windows username? Do you have to manually enter a username and password to get into Myriad?
If the answer to these 2 questions is no, then it is possible that you have a corrupted user in the P Squared directory. To check this, we will need to turn off the automatic Myriad Logon.
Run Myriad as you have been with a temporary set of file locations, then click on Settings > Myriad Settings > Myriad Settings. Choose the General Settings tab and turn off the option Attempt to Login to the Directory with the Windows Login Name. Now try setting the file locations to the correct folders and restarting Myriad.
Log in with a differnt Myriad username If this works, then the problem may be with the user profile in the Directory. Try logging in manually with the old name and see if you get the error.
Assuming the problem is with the usename, you have 2 options. Trying a Repair of the Directory.mdb with the Emegency recovery tool, and deleting and recreating the User in Myriad Manager.

Hi,
First time post so I'm hoping somone can shed some light on this issue.
Our setup is as follows:
Two computers with Myriad:
Studio: ''Myriad-01'' Audiowall, Directory and Myriad folders all stored on this PC's hardrive and are shared with read/write permissions over our network.
Edit: ''Myriad-02'' This PC points to the afore mentioned folders on ''Myriad-01'' (Studio PC).
When using ''Myriad-02'' (the Edit machine) everything seems in order... You can load up Myriad Manager and it sees the audiowall correctly and all users etc. Carts can also be played in Myriad Manager no problem.
However....
Load up Myriad Play Out on ''Myriad-02'' (Edit machine) and a problem occurs. Myriad itself appears to complete the load fine, finds the station database etc etc and will bring up the log-in screen. User inputs his or her details and Myriad accepts these. After this Myriad freezes without getting any further. The following error often appears:
"P Squared Graphical Controls v3 Run-time error '-2147418105 (80010007)': Automation error The callee (server [not server application]) is not available and dissapeared; all connects are invalid. The call may have executed."
The only way I have got round this problem is to point ''Myriad-02'' (Edit Machine) to temporary Audiowall, Directory and Myriad locations on it's own local drive. Then once Myriad Play Out has properly loaded re-configure these to point towards ''Myriad-01'' (Studio PC) where everything is stored. It then sees the audiowall, log etc fine. This however is a bit of a chore each time and I'd like it to see the network location without any fuss...
Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?
Many thanks in advance,
Andy Carter Jam-Radio Keighley

Just another thought as well - on the machine previously acting as "Server" you could try running up an Admin Command prompt and entering
net config server /autodisconnect:-1
This stops Windows from disconnecting connections that it thinks are dormant - this sometimes throws Client PC's and it takes 2 goes to get them to reconnect. To test this though you would need to move the data back, and if you're happy the way it is now then best just to leave it

Sorry I don't quite understand, I've created a copy of the ''myriad3'' .exe file. But when I go to properties to change the name windows will not allow me to use " / " or " " " in the file name. Am I doing that in the right place?

Hi Andy,
You are not alone. I had exactly the same thing happen only this morning. The system crashed right back to 'black-screen' and I had to re-start the system from the Windows 7 start-up.
Has anyone else had continous problems with Myriad V3/Autotrack Pro/Windows 7?
Since we had our new system installed just before last Xams we have had continuing problems. There is no consistency with the crashes. Some times it is the above. Sometimes the Log screen freezes. Sometimes the Log disappears all together and the system has to be rescheduled. Sometimes we get white screen both in automation and when it is being manually used. Sometimes Myriad just stops working without explaination.
Sometimes the system will run without problems for 1-2 weeks. Sometimes - as today - it will crash within an hour of the previous crash.
PSquared have been supportive and we have been sending them files of data for them to analyse. They have made some useful suggestions that have improved some aspects of performance. But they do not seem to be able to get to the root of the problem.
Their latest suggestion is to move to the new beta version of the system. But I am wary of 'beta' versions as there is the risk that trial users are there to de-bug the system before general release and it may just make the problems worse.
Any advice would be welcome. It is all very frustrating and annoying.

It's ok easy mistake to make - it's not the EXE you need to alter, just make a copy of the shortcut icon on the desktop and then edit the properties of that icon. If it won't let you make a copy of the icon then right click on the actual exe and click Create Shortcut so you can alter the properties. Then drag that shortcut onto the desktop so it's easy to find
