Hello all,

Just as a little bit of prenotice, the Public Beta version will be v4.0.9 and will initially have 3 products available for you to have a play with:

1) Myriad Playout v4.0.9

2) Myriad AutoTrack Pro v4.0.9

3) Myriad AudioWall Auto-Importer v4.0.9

We are then planning on adding other Support Products like Remote Voice Tracking, Advert Manager, Myriad Monitor etc. over the coming weeks as these come out of our internal testing - we wanted to get v4.0 out into the field as soon as possible so didn't want to hold it up for Support Tools that not everyone will need asap!

Those with eagle eyes may have spotted 2 new forum areas today as well:

http://forum.psquared.net/Product-Forums/AutoTrack-Category/Myriad-AutoTrack-v4-Discussions

and

http://forum.psquared.net/Product-Forums/Myriad-Q-NXT-OCP-Audiowall-Category/Myriad-Playout-v4.0-Discussions

Which is where I shall move this post to shortly as we want to keep all the v4 conversations together if possible Smile

I'm hoping to have more news for you about the actual releases shortly!

PS - If you haven't already got it (and chances are you probably don't!), you will need to download Microsoft SQL Server 2008R2 as well - the SQL Express edition is free too.... http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=23650

Hi Erewashsound,

RVT in itself is unlikely to be quicker than v3.6, though there are quiet a few places where we have optimised various parts of the Database Acess. This is because the main delay we tend to see is caused by the time taken to actually create, send and decompress the Audio itself (both the previews of the items you are Voice tracking into/out of, and also the new link you have created and are uploading).

In particular this can take time if you are using ADSL connections as these are often very slow on the "up" phase - i.e. if your Studio is on ADSL, you will have limited upload bandwidth for the Songs to be uploaded to the RVT user. Likewise, if the RVT user is on ADSL, they would also have limited upload bandwidth for the new links that they are recording and sending back to teh studio.

Will RVT be any quicker talking to an SQL database rather then Jet DB connection? Any idea when there will be news on beta releases?

Hi Glen,

Yes we still have the dual on a single screen setting, and it "should" work fine with the dashboard (i'll admit we haven't specifically checked that option yet!)

RVT still works exactly the same way as before - it's just that the Remote Edit Server now talks to SQL Server instead of to the Jet Database Engine (which in turn talks to the files) - other than that change it behaves and works the same way as before.

Big question. With the new layout & dashboard will you still have the setting for myriad to treat 1 large monitor as 2 sep monitors?

also with move to SQL how will this effect remote voice tracking, will this still perform as it does now?

Peter / Liam,

As I said at the HBA conference when we saw you demonstrating it - I am keen to try version 4 out as a beta too!
