Does anyone else ever get a crackle when they record using VT/Segedit ? we get it on all 3 studios, not all the time, usually the first link, to fix it we shut down myriad completely and restart then its usually fine. it's a strange crackle alomst like the voice is being clipped when recorded. 3 identical desks, pc's mics and studios ! so it cant be a problem with all 3 the same with the equipment, it has to be a software bug in myriad OR we do have a bug in our equipment ! we are using delta 10/10 rack mounted for all 3 studios. look forward to hearing if anyone else suffers this ever ?

Hi Paul, What version of Myriad are you running? It might be worth raising a support ticket and sending us a transport file including the audio so we can have a listen here as well.

Hi Paul
Its the M Audio Delta Driver thats causing the issue. We had a similar problem at Bay with crackeling when voice tracking, although this was on Master Control, but still using delta 10/10. I was given a set of drivers which fixed the problem (not the current ones on their website) . We have since used these drivers for the last year without the problem coming back. I can send them to you if you wish. Send me a PM

Hi Glen, What version of the driver are you using so we can see if we can make it available from our Drivers download section? Thanks

Hi Paul, Now this is just encase you have done some swapping of USB devices or even Windows software updates etc, as said by Glen this is most likely to be in relation to your Delta 1010 card. Try moving the card to a different PCI slot only IF you are NOT sure its using a dedicated slot, it appears the Delta cards do not like sharing resources . Use the DPC Latency Checker( http://www.thesycon.de/deu/latency_check.shtml ) to see if you are getting latency spikes when the problem occurs. You may need to try disabling devices like your built-in sound card, UnwantedEthernet, or Wireless controllers as they can interfere. Most important disabled CPU EIST within your BIOS if not already done! The remaining latency spikes if any should now be gone! You should now find you have no issues, we found this issue on one of our systems and also on a non RVT machine after I added a USB keyboard, took me ages to understand it was the Delta card not Sonifex (or ever PSquared) as I had added a Studio switch and Dead Air detector when the sound issues started for us. I still have one machine playing up and this is due to get the above treatment tomorrow (Friday 18th March) Hope the above helps.

Hi Mark, Once we've loaded the driver that Glen sends we'll look inot what you said above, all our pc's are in rack mounted cases and its not a simple task to swop pci slots.... if the driver cures the problem we will be happy. Thanks for all your comments, the whole idea of this forum is help each other out when we come across problems ! Thanks !

Hi Paul, Was not sure what type of hardware you were using, we use servers here, I suggest you double check your BIOS when you can re disabling CPU EIST (Enhanced Intel SpeedStep Technology) as if this is enabled you will get loads of issues, its a long known problem which Delta seem very slow to deal with. If you check around on their own forums you will see what I mean. The DPC Latency Checker checker is a great little tool to see if you system is under any type of strain due to bad drivers, this normally happens after doing upgrades such as Windows! I also strongly recommend you disable all unwanted devices within your BIOS, if the above Latency results are showing lots of red then you should look at your Windows Control Panel and one by one disable any running (Loaded or Installed) programs each time rechecking with the Latency Checker to see which are giving you issues, then make a decision of do we really need this working on this machine? One program to watch out for is Firefox, we use this as our preferred browser over IE, however this plays havoc for us if installed on the same machine running Myriad, loads of red shown once its been opened even when closed back down, only a full reboot clears the issue! So we decided to remove it completely off all Myriad machines. Hope you finally get it all sorted, I know from experience how much of a headache this issue can be to resolve.
