chrisspring (4/7/2010) Hi there
We're running our sustain service on one PC and run the audiowall on another PC connecting to the audio directory on the sustain
Does this setup seem acceptable?
regards
ChrisHaving multiple machines all accessing the same audio wall and system directory would be what I'd call the 'standard' set-up. All reading the same databases shouldn't be an issue - it's designed to work like that (though in Myriad v2.6 you can edit the log that's about to be played from another machine which could cause crashes - but v3+ is designed to avoid this issue) In my experience having one of your studio pcs (or in your case the 'sustain studio') computer also being the file server works fine most of the time - though of course all things being equal having a separate 'server' does has some advantages. If your "file server" workstation goes down - your whole system goes down - you can't even operate from a second studio (and if your studio come file server machine is going to die it'll probably do so on a Bank Holiday given my experience). As for the original posters crashes - is it Myriad that is crashing, or windows that's crashing?
