The delay does to some extent depend on the state of the receiver and signal strength - we've got two in our rack (one as a backup) and they're frequently a second or so out from each other. We were recommended 120cm dish by IRN (in East Kent) ... like we can afford something like that! And next 80cm or 66cm. We currently have two 53cm dishes. They're rubbish, and we totally loose signal if it rains. 253

Forum Sage Group: Forum Members Posts: 58, Visits: 949	Hi to all, Realise this is a little late (10 days) but thought for those not aware I would post the IRN Advisory notice on whats happening with the Astra2A signal being its due to have a third adjustment to its original signal as engineers try to get the service back to its original 2 second delay, so for those making clocks in your Autotrack for advance scheduling in January keep this in mind! Tuesday 13th December Dear All We are taking steps to resolve the 6 second delay of the IRN bulletin which we feel is unacceptable. As a temporary measure, from 4pm today, stations should expect a 4 second delay to the bulletins. In January, engineering will seek to provide an even better solution and we will keep you updated. As before, it is best individual stations determine the delay and adjust their automation playout systems accordingly. In the meantime, if you have any concerns, please call Platform Support on 020 7032 1235. Friday 9th December All Stations Using Astra 2A Following upgrade work in the transmission equipment associated with all the Sky News channels we have been advised that the audio PID (packet identification) value changed from 661 to 701 and may have affected some of your stations’ receivers ability to receive our news bulletin. If you are having problems receiving the IRN bulletin we believe rebooting and retuning the receiver should resolve any issues. In addition, there has also been a change to the delay of the IRN news bulletin. The delay will depend upon the receiver used and the speed it processes our channel but in some cases the delay can be around 6 seconds. It is best individual stations determine this delay and adjust their automation playout systems accordingly. Forum Sage Group: Forum Members Posts: 297, Visits: 876	You could just bring the 'extro' point of the cart forward by 3 seconds which will fool it into thinking the cart was 7 seconds long and fire it at xx:53. This would work if you were using the audio wall and it would also be a way of making sure the log said a zero overrun if using Autofade etc without an absolute time marker. Forum Sage Group: Forum Members Posts: 252, Visits: 2.1K	We use SRN with a SKY BOX tuned in to Astra 2A and can confirm we currently have a 3 sec delay on the news, I have adjusted auto-track for log playback using Q-NXT BUT when playing the a pre-news jingle of 10 seconds when the presenter is using the clock in the Audiowall, NOT Q-NXT, by inserting a 10sec news jingle this then back times to 59:50 to fire off and plays to 00:00 as expected. In this situation we have a 3 sec news delay. As a suggestion can the clock not have an off-set time for issues regarding late News feeds when used with the AudioWall and not Q-NXT??? IE instead of a 10 sec pre news jingle firing off automatically at 59:50 have an offset that allows it to fire off at +3 59:53. That may help presenters. Here's the details I have for SRN as of March 2010 OLD - Astra 2A NEW - Astra 2A OLD - Transponder 25 NEW - 26 OLD - Frequency 12188 NEW - 12207 OLD - Polarity Horizontal NEW - Vertical OLD - Symbol Rate 27500 NEW - 27500 OLD - FEC 2/3 NEW - 2/3 OLD - SNR3 NEW - SNR 239

They always seem to forget about the community stations and inform the big boys first, we pay our money too !!! Talking of money, wait til the next bill comes in for IRN, ours came last week, no longer 100 per year, it's shot up to 300 per year now. Good luck rescheduling those clocks !
