Thanks Neil,

I'll Give Auto mode a go, but I wasn't sure weather it would hit the 4 o'clock news or just play until it ran out of audio in that hour, then hit the next hour late.

It seems to me that instead of Back-timing to the next Hour Start marker like it did in 3.0, it must be back-timing to an hour regardless. That's the only way I can account for the fact that it no longer works when it used to.

Simon.

Do you have the hour set to "auto" and not "auto fade"?

With the A to Z of Pop, Richard is now sending his two hours shows as two seperate files so that will allow you to have them in two sections anyway, but if you have the hour play mode as Auto, it shouldn't fade early at all.

Agree with you Simon, It would be so simple if you just deleted the 3pm hour and the 2 hour cart played until 4pm,
no matter what we try it cuts our 2hr show off and wil then sit and wait for the next hour.
We will continue to cut the show into 2 halves !

At least this is happening for everyone and not just me;-)

Hi all,

It seems to depend on weather your running Myriad 3.0 or 3.5 as to weather the two hour long song solution works.

We carry Richard Smith's A to Z of Pop programme and he has recorded various 2 hour long specials for Christmas etc. His show usually goes out at 2pm so a two hour show would obviously be 2-4. All I used to do in the past was put the 2 hour long cart into the log and change it's type to a song, change the absolute time for the news jingle from 14:59:45 to 15:59:45 and delete the 3pm hour entirely. Worked like a charm in 3.0.

I tried that again the Christmas before last, which was our first with 3.5, but this time, it faded the show out at 3pm. It would have stayed silent for an hour if I hadn't remoted in and fixed it. After that I had to leave the show as a cart to force it to overrun and just time it as exactly as I could by padding it out with a jingle of exactly the right length at the end. I meant to split it up into two 1 hour long carts but I haven't got round to it yet so I might be doing the same this Christmas! Now that 3.6 adds in Hour End markers as well as the Hour Start, we'll have to see.

It's a shame because it used to work perfectly in 3.0.

Simon.

I think we tried this too, BUt will try it again, if not we'll continue to cut the shows in half.

Hi Peter

I actually tried this once accidentally as it happens but it didn;t work - we got an hour of the silence detector as Myriad waited for the next hour!

At HRB, we schedule any two hour shows in an hour marked AUTO and then the second hour we have an hour that has nothing in it at all.  Having said that all our 2 hour carts are recorded virtually to time and just want a bit of adjustment at the end.  We don't use them much and I have the time to do it manually but I'd imagine that if you have a lot it can be quite time consuming.

Hi Will,

I'm presuming that you must be scheduling the 2 hour shows as Songs so that they are fadable - i'm guessing that you want them to be faded as they haven't been recorded to exactly the right length?

If they are recorded to the correct length (i.e. 118 mins - 120mins minus the 2 minute news) then dave's approach above is the correct one to use.

If they aren't recorded to the correct length then I've thought of a possible one you could try - I have to stress I haven't tried this, so it's just a suggestion.

have your 11PM hour set to AUTO, have your news items at the top of hour but nothing else.

In the 12PM hour, set this to AUTOFADE and have your 2 hour show in there.

Therefore what should happen is:

11PM hour starts and does news.

At the end of the news (lets say 11:02PM) it rolls into the 12:00 Hour, effectively 1hr:58mins early

It starts playing the 2 hour long "show" and realises that it has 2hrs of content but only 1hr:58hr to play it in (until 1PM) so fades off the last 2 mins of the show.

That might work - but definitely give it a test first!

Paul,

one answer is to create the hour using AutoTrack as just AUTO (not run to time), shedule this at say 1PM, this clock contains just one entry, the cart number for your 2 hour show.

In AT DONT schedule a 2PM clock.

In AT shedule a 3PM clock as AUTOFADE (i.e Run to time), then make sure it has at least 60mins of stuff in it.

Then on Myriad what should happen is:

12pm hour runs into the 1PM hour (especially if the 12PM is AUTOFADE).

1PM Hour plays the cart, this finishes around 14:59

Myriad runs into the 3PM hour, changes mode to AUTOFADE and re calculates what it needs to drop (or add if you are using Instant Track).

You should be now back on track timing wise.

hope this helps
