Phil,

yes we still do interface with the "Joystick" ports - these are as you correctly say are only for the remote starts from the mixer.

The "trouble" with the Air2000, is that our pulse output is too quick for the channel if you are wanting Myriad to turn the channel on and off, so you need to have 2 output cables wired to the channel you want to control (for arguments sake, IRN Channel).

You need to wire to the ON and the OFF buttons, and this is the sequence you need (using IRN Switching as an example):

Wait for time mm:ss:hh
Activate Hardware (nn)
- Turns ON Button On, allowing IRN audio to feed thru the channel.
Cart (nn) - You need a small silence cart of .5seconds
Deactivate Hardware (nn) - Turns ON Button Off - because you can't turn the Off button ON, if the On button is still on.
Hour Start
Wait for time mm:ss:hh
Activate Hardware (nn) - Turns OFF Button On stopping IRN audio feeding thru the channel..
Cart (nn) - You need a small silence cart of .5seconds
Deactivate Hardware (nn) - Turns OFF Button Off - allowing you to control the ON Button at the top of the hour, because you can't turn the ON button ON, if the OFF button is still on

Does this make any sense at all?

Basically the Air 2000 is a pig to wire when you want to control the channel.

At the risk of diddling PSquared a sale of an Advantec Card - I assume the latest Myriad's still support a 'joystick controller' type Input? I seem to recall reading about Peter testing various USB "game controller interfaces" which could be used to trigger cart play commands. This may work out cheaper - though bear in mind this only gives you 4x inputs - not the 16 ins and outs the Advantec card provides.

I've only ever used a Joystick controller input with Powerlog - but from what I can recall the wiring diagram is either in this forum, or on the PSquared site somewhere. I used it with a 'mic live' contact closure on a Soundcraft desk - but I assume the Alice machine starts are just contact closures so would work the same.

Basically, you need a PCI1750 Hardware I/O card for the Studio PC, then you will need to run some cabling from the Air2000 channels (D Type remotes connector - Cat5 Network cable should be fine) back to the PCI1750.

the wiring is as follows:

PCI 1750 to Alice AIR2000 Remote Start wiring details:

37way Male “D” type connected needed for the PCI card end & 25way Male “D” type connector needed on the Alice mixer.

REMOTE START MYRIAD CART 1 TO ALICE CHANNEL “A” INPUT

CONNECT PCI PIN 1

TO

ALICE PIN 22 (SIGNAL)

CONNECT PCI PIN 28

TO

ALICE PIN 10 (GROUND)

REMOTE START MYRIAD CART 2 TO ALICE CHANNEL “A” INPUT

CONNECT PCI PIN 20

TO

ALICE PIN 22 (SIGNAL)

CONNECT PCI PIN 28

TO

ALICE PIN 10 (GROUND)

REMOTE START MYRIAD CART 3 TO ALICE CHANNEL “A” INPUT

CONNECT PCI PIN 2

TO

ALICE PIN 22 (SIGNAL)

CONNECT PCI PIN 28

TO

ALICE PIN 10 (GROUND)

REMOTE START MYRIAD CART 4 TO ALICE CHANNEL “A” INPUT

CONNECT PCI PIN 21

TO

ALICE PIN 22 (SIGNAL)

CONNECT PCI PIN 28

TO

ALICE PIN 10 (GROUND)

**************************************

REMOTE START MYRIAD CART 1 TO ALICE CHANNEL “B” INPUT

CONNECT PCI PIN 1

TO

ALICE PIN 24 (SIGNAL)

CONNECT PCI PIN 28

TO

ALICE PIN 12 (GROUND)

REMOTE START MYRIAD CART 2 TO ALICE CHANNEL “B” INPUT

CONNECT PCI PIN 2

TO

ALICE PIN 24 (SIGNAL)

CONNECT PCI PIN 28

TO

ALICE PIN 12 (GROUND)

REMOTE START MYRIAD CART 3 TO ALICE CHANNEL “B” INPUT

CONNECT PCI PIN 3

TO

ALICE PIN 24 (SIGNAL)

CONNECT PCI PIN 28

TO

ALICE PIN 12 (GROUND)

REMOTE START MYRIAD CART 4 TO ALICE CHANNEL “B” INPUT

CONNECT PCI PIN 4

TO

ALICE PIN 24 (SIGNAL)

CONNECT PCI PIN 28

TO

ALICE PIN 12 (GROUND)

PCI 1750:

Solder pins 28 / 29 / 9 together and solder a Fly cable to attach to the case (using the connector screw).

Hope this helps

Ok Cheers chaps that a great help and thanks for the heads up but i dont know how you trigger the carts from the faders?? do you have to config yriad to do this??  Let me tell you what i have aquired.

Alice Air 2000 desk

2 X Tannoy Monitors

Alice air 2000 Power supply

Desk insert boards are:

2002 X 2

2008 X 1

2003 X1  not connected

2102 X 4   2 run CD players and 2 run Minidisc players

2101 X 1  ( host Mic )

2001 X 4 (guest Mics )

2005 X1

2006 X 1  not connected

2007 X1 connected but not sure if routed correctly

2  Denon cd players on fader start

2 denon minidisc players on fader start

Echo Gina 24 soundcard and breakout box 2x inputs 8 x outputs

Live Light

Sonifex HY02 Telephone unit

Alice Dual distribution amplifier DP6-2

OPOTPAK 2

Promatch 1

matchpak

1X denon amp

All is connected and working but only through the Auxillary channel bus. I am a live band sound engineer in addition to the above so know all about routing cables but this desk is quite different than the usual mixing desks configs i am used to using every day.

So question is all is connected but does anyone know how to route these desks other than using the auxillary channels + connecting desk inserts not yet connected.

All is a big ask but worth a try as Alice dont answer and assume they are no longer??

Many thanks

Brian

Agree, CPC for ready made leads, saves so much time and they are usually colour coded too!

Brian,

You really need somebody who knows what they're doing technically but as we have Air 2000s in our studios it's a simple case of a male (I think) XLR to 1/4" jack TRS to get a balanced feed. repeat 4 times with 4 faders on the mixer and you'll have 4 independent Myriad cart players. I'm pretty sure the Gina24 had 8 outputs?

We use multicore XLR leads, which saves a considerable amount of space. You can get them pretty cheap from CPC. Or you could make your own (although we worked out it wasn't any cheaper to do this).

Best of luck
