Hi,

Here at HRB we are moving to a new Server.

What SQL file do I need to move?

Once done, is it just a case of pointing all the play-out machines at the new server?

Thanks,
Simon.

Hi Simon,

in SQL you can perform a database backup to a file - these can then be restored in the new SQL Server instance.

Right click over the individual databases and choose Tasks>backup

Can I do this with Myriad still running?

When I try and point the playout computers at the new server I get this error.

I think it is the same problem when I first set up the old sever. I had to get you (P Squared) to remotely log in and fix it. Can you remember what you did?

Are you running SQL Server or SQLServer Express? You might need to change the servername to SERVER2018\SQLExpress

Hi Peter,

We are running SQL server.

I think I am getting closer to fixing this? I have opened the port on the firewall. But still get an Login in error. Anyone have any ideas to fix that one?

Thanks,
Simon.

Hi Simon,

I may be completely wrong but do you not need to have a database instance name after the name of the server as Peter mentioned above so  Server2018\Instancename. Also make sure the security login (windows authenication vs sql authenication) is set correctly.

Wonder whether something on this page will help - https://dougrathbone.com/blog/2013/11/18/testing-connectivity-to-microsoft-sql-server-without-any-tools-installed
