I have set the 4 players to be different colours via the "database settings / Log items" tab and whilst they change ok on a single screen setup they won't change on a dual screen setup?   Is this normal?

Hmmm you should see them coloured regardless of screen setup - Can you post a couple of screenshots?

The settings window you've got there is to set the colours of the Log items in the Log Display - have a check in Audio Settings and you'll need to set the cart player colours in there to alter the colours of the ones at the foot of the screen - that should get you sorted
