Hi All,

I am just wondering how people are using Myriad.

1 - 1 screen or 2?

2 - If 1 screen what size screen and resolution?

3 - If 2 screen what size screen and resolution?

4 - What graphics card are you using if running Dual screen and under what OS?

We are looking to install Myriad in a new studio and these answers will help us decide what screens we will get and graphics card also.

In our studio we have x2 22" Philips Widecreen Monitors, VGA.  One for Myriad and the other for web,email and library database.  These run off a dual head VGA card.  The OS is Windows 7 Pro 32bit.

Due to the location of the Studio and Engineering being at each end of our portakabin the VGA links are done over active VGA extenders via CAT6.   One extender is just VGA, the other extender is VGA+KVM.

I don't have exact specs at hand.

We have HP 15" 1024*768 dual monitors on XP at the moment, we use the VGA from the motherboard and separate VGA out for the second screen, additional graphics cards are nothing special, just what ever was cheap in the local PC shop at the time.  So long as windows is happy Myriad doesn't appear to need any special treatment.

We have a second pc on a 3rd matching monitor for anything non Myriad.

We have new PC's on the way which will be Windows 7 pro, monitors are being reused as, A they work and B we don't have desk space for anything larger sadly.

we have 3 screens at present in each studio, we aim to have 4 soon.

2 running myriad in dual screen
1 for email and browsing
1 for on air production, such as taking calls off air to edit.

all the screens are 22" and we still run XP, although we are upgrading to 7 soon, so we expect lots of crashes !!!!!

graphics card for the dual myriad screen are G Force, don't have exact model to hand, but they are simple middle of the road spec, £50.00 cards.

Hi Matt,

We are using 1 screen for Myriad. Philips 22" Widescreen (16:10) SVGA set to 1680 x 1050 resolution.

One screen works very well for us. Due to the high resolution some presenters have their Myriad settings to make the carts larger on the screen, but most stick with the standard settings.

We also have a 19" 4:3 HP Monitor for web etc. on another PC.

Both our on-air studios have the same configuration as above. In our racks room we have a 3rd PC playing out Myriad 24x7 on seperate database, that one just has an old 15" 4:3 monitor on for monitoring.

Hi Matt,

Just to clarify, in our 1 monitor set up we have Myriad set up with the standard display option, i.e. we do not squeeze the content of 2 monitors onto one with the log always showing on the r/h side but instead have it such that it shows either the audio wall or the log screen if it is selected. We find this works very well and as users have never used the 2 screen set up we certainly had no resistance to it. We did not like the one screen option with everything shown as it looked very cramped.
