Sorry for all the questions at once... but here's another!

We would like to be able to play an ARTIST ID or PROMO in a fixed clock position and follow it with a song by that same artist.

We have tried BINDING an ID to songs by the artist but that has an unsatisfactory result on the air. Songs can show up back to back with IDS BOUND to them or several in the same hour.

The LINK Card has this option: "only schedule to play before songs with these TYPES"
Do we create a TYPE for each ARTIST that has an ID?
EX:  Link - Local Artist ID (schedule before type: BB King)
Song:  Local Band  (type: BB King)

We might run out of TYPES, I suppose.

Thanks for your help.

Hi Rick,

the binding is used after the artist is scheduled - sadly you cannot force the bound link into a clock position. The songs are laid down first in the scheduling pass order, before links are scheduled, so for this we can place the bound link, once we have placed the artist.

So bound items should be used sparingly - perhaps only with your A-list, so you are not back filling the links after the artists have been scheduled.

Looking at a LINK CARD in Auto Track I see the checkbox "only schedule to play before songs with these categories"
Would this also work with ALTERNATIVE Categories?
Let's say I had an ELVIS ID in the "Artist ID" link category that I only wanted to play before a normally scheduled Elvis song. If I create an ALT Category "Elvis" on a main category card - would the ID be scheduled to play before the Elvis song?
Convoluted? maybe... but hopeful.

Thanks

Rick

Hi Rick,

The links are scheduled after the songs have been laid down, so if the song position has been scheduled as either the primary or secondary category, that link card is available for consideration for that log position.

Hi Rick,
Off the top of my head, I think that it will only schedule before items that have been scheduled VIA that category - whether that's the primary or the alternate.

So considering the Song 1234 "Hound Dog" which is in Category "Image" and Alternate Category "Elvis".  If it's scheduled into an "Image" category clock position then the ID will only be allowed if it's set to Before An "Image". If on the other hand the same song is scheduled but this time to fill a clock position set to "Elvis" then the id will only schedule if set to "elvis"

Hopefully that explanation makes sense?
