Dont know if this is in the right place but could anyone help or advise on how we get our myriad v3.6 time clock to run accurate. Do we need a separate bit of software as we are shortly going to be using IRN/Sky news and although we have radio controlled wall clocks we find the computer time is not accurate to meet time critical events such as IRN/Sky news.

Can anyone advise what we need to make the pc clocks as accurate as the radio controlled wall clocks, Thanks.

So long as your PC is connected to the internet or at least 1 PC on your network is the easiest way is to sync to a time server on the net.

We use the National Physic Laboratory servers at ntp1.npl.co.uk and ntp2.npl.co.uk

I'm sure there is a guide on the forum to get windows to do this or you can download a client to do it.  There is a list of several here: http://www.endruntechnologies.com/ntp-client.htm

Hi,
this has been discussed a few times here on the forum, but the top level information is as follows:
1). Internet time sync.
Windows has a way of checking the time and resetting the clock. HOWEVER, you need to tweak with Windows as to save power it now switches off certain services including the time service - when it does fire back up and check, if there is a substantial difference between the time server and itself, it can speed up / slow down time to get you back on track so you wont notice. This is bad for Myriad, when we need a second to be a second for accurate time calculations.
There are instructions on how to do this on the forum, or here is a good website, with information on it http://www.pretentiousname.com/timesync/

2). Radio Clock connected to the PC.
These are less frequently available these days but still possible to get hold of, they will normally have their own software which changes the PC time. Make sure you do get a strong signal as they appear to be more sensitive than the wall based clocks (which also use quartz to keep accurately ticking). Once you have one PC being updated, you could make this PC a "Time Server" on your network, and have the other PC's read their time from it, using the same methods as above. However you will need to make sure the "Time Server" PC has a higher Stratum than the client PC.

3). GPS Time Sync.
Similar to above, however you will need the receiver to be able to access the satellites.

If you contact sales@psquared.net they can give you current pricing on the Radio Clocks.
