Hi

The Galleon "mars bar" unit that has been keeping our studio one clock to absolute time has stopped working. We'd like to use an internet based NTP time server to keep the studio one myriad PC running to time.

Our 5 myriad studio PCs are on an isolated sub net: 192.168.2.XX while the webfacing office network of 18 myriad PCs are on: 193.168.1.XX

Does anyone know how we can set up an NTP Time Server for our studio myriad PCs - for at least studio one (our main on-air studio) and ideally all myriad studio PCs?

Many thanks

We use Tardis (http://www.kaska.demon.co.uk/tardis.htm) at several sites, we have it setup on all PC's, but only one gets its time from external servers, the rest are setup to get their time from the central server.

It should work across subnets without to much difficulty. You can also set it up to broadcast NTP signals on the subnets and then have the K9 service listen for those broadcasts.

Hi Jonathan,

Windows Server will have a higher Stratum than workstations, this means you can use the built in time service and don't need to spend out on 3rd part software. You can point your workstations to your Myriad Server (so they all get the same time) and then if your Myriad server connects to your office network, and the wider internet, it can update it's time from an internet source.

This is something we tweak with all of our PC installations (so the updates happen regularly), just have a search here on the forum, there is a whole thread dedicated to Windows time.

Regards

Hi Dave

I've searched a few times, but I'm struggling to find the "Windows Time" thread - please can you post a click through to the thread?

Thanks in advance
