As per your posting:

Can you shed some light on the advantech cards, we use one in each studio to switch the news in and out, if we upgraded to 64 bit these would no longer work, am I correct ?

__________________________________________________________________________________________________________
We're very pleased to announce that we are now able to support all of our current range of products on Windows 7 64 bit (as well as on 32 bit as before!)

This new support for 64 bit editions of Windows 7 only applies to these current products:
  • Myriad Family v4 (Includes Playout, AutoTrack, News, OCP etc.)
  • PowerLog v4
  • File Monitor
  • Boot Stuff
  • Audio Input Monitor.
Older versions of products should only use Windows 7 32 bit, particularly if you are using Advantech hardware cards as those products only used the 32 bit versions of the Advantech drivers.

We've been using the Advantech card on x64 ever since it Myriad started working with it several beta versions ago.  So long as you load the correct advantech drivers it should work fine.

Hi Craig and Paul,

Craig - why did you decide to go for using 64-bit? Have you seen any performance increases in Myriad at all?

We went with x64 as we were installing new machines which all came with copious amounts of RAM etc.  We took and informed risk that rather than limiting the PC's ability to use all it's resources we would try it, as we believed that it would work well (given some of Peter's previous posts) even if not properly supported and to be fair we've never had any problems with it.

Only limit was the 1 pc with an advantech card, it had to be x86.  It suffered a hardware fault around the time x64 support for advantech cards was introduced so was rebuilt as x64 and has worked fine.

Thanks Craig,

So you use the DAQnavi driver which was released in April 2014 for a normal PCI-1750 card? I suppose it gives the headroom for the PC to be doing other bits and not affect playout due to being able to address the RAM.

Not 100% sure about the driver version but that sounds about right.

Same reason as Craig really, to use the RAm that is sitting inside the new pc's we built a few months ago,
although we haven't yet moved to 64 bit, but will do it towards the end of the year.
