I'm trying to set up a Scoop Capture v3 machine to download stories and audio from an e-mail account.

The e-mail account in question needs to be accessed with an SSL connection on port 995. It's a google apps domain account.

I've set up a new source, using the email3.ini as a starting point.

There is no option I can see to specify SSL or port, and specifying the server as pop.gmail.com:995 doesn't work (such specifying a port in the URI is a trick that I've found works with some software.)

Is there a way to configure Scoop v3 to do this, or do I need to find a 'plain vanilla' POP3 server I can use?

Hi Phil,

I'm afraid non-encrypted POP3 is all that Scoop (and Myriad News) supports, so yes, you'll need a regular POP3 account somewhere.

We've had the same problems with Powerlog and Google Apps, had to use another plain smtp server and a VPN to get it all working.

Be nice if the email gubbins could be updated, go on , go on, go on as Mrs Doyle once said. :-)
