Paul what decision have i made ?  i cant remember saying i was making a decision, i asked a simple question hopefully to someone who knew the answer rather than someone guessing as you are.  if you don't know the answer to a question it's not wise to answer one that wasn't asked in the first place.

actually im not even sure we are on the same page of understanding because if your myriad database was near 1tb it wouldn't even open let alone run.  Interesting how you speak of your loving care on the database over three years - your music library and your database are two entirely different things. - ps, didnt you get a copy of our music library about two years ago to start you off?

David and i were talking about the database and it's size - the main schedule mdb file that is behind myriad, not the number of music files you hold on your disk

Back to subject for those who understand what im talking about , we don't use the database tab at all as all shows are playlisted, we just use the search facility (find) if we have to search for something,  I believe this works regardless of the myriad database as it searches the audiowall directly.  we dont put shows together on the fly, even our specialist shows come from autotrack where needed so the tab isnt used.  we don't use the hour generator either but David, you did bring a valid point tho regarding the hour filler - when we are automated overnight we still run news on the hour using the hardware triggers so the hours do have to fill sometimes so thanks for that.  that use of the database is solved tho by just making sure hours overrun.

Paul, I am interested to know what exactly you've done five times today regarding the database (and more importantly why you'd have to  ???) care to explain what you mean vs what i mean?

Only reason this is an issue is that i've been on a music tidy, re-categorising, replacing some that were previously only available by vinyl rip with clean copies etc and there are holes to fill.

Ok,

the database tab is used for several things:

1: is the presenter allowed to play this song? Is it in a current category that you are allowing in their show? If you stipulate those kinds of programming rules, Myriad will let you choose whatever you want to play, it's up to the presenter to get the rollicking or not from the management w00t

2: It's one of the ways we tell Instant Track what Music / Links you have on the system, so you can use Instant Track to fill in hours by itself (handy if you have forgotten to schedule tomorrows log), also it can now fill an underunning hour (handy if you are taking IRN News)

I'm sure there are other reasons why it's useful - I'll let others jump in at this point.

Have a good weekend :-)

Ours works everytime, but only after senind the update to myriad AND shutting down myriad and re-starting it.

Lol, that's exactly what i want to avoid doing Paul - it never updates properley anyway, never has

David we compress and repair every month - have to or it gets too slow once it gets above 500mb

My question wasnt how to make it update, i know that bit and thereare several ways - it was wether you actually have any need to have any info in the myriad bit at all - if you remove all song details from the myriad database then the problem doesnt exist - i was trying to find out if the myriad database has to have song info in it for any other reason but the database tab.

Gents,

at the risk of sounding like a broken record, have you tried a compress/repair of the database?

There may be some rogue data in there that dislikes the Update process?

Use the Myriad Emergency Recovery Utility to repair the Station Database - this can normally be found in the \schedule subfolder of your main Myriad Data location.

REMEMBER you will need to have closed the Station Database on all copies of Myriad, or close Myriad on all computers including the one running the Recovery tool.

you're assuming - suggest you try it before suggesting it as a fix.

go delete a track youve had in months do it any way you want - autotrack, myriad whatever - then put a new one in the old cart, re-read whatever - then drag it in the log.  if you have track info in the myriad database it wont make a difference how you do it

(ps, all this assumes that you do store track info in the myriad database -  check the database tab in myriad to see if you have all tracks in there)

we only ever delete from autotrack, re-reading doesnt fix it as re-reading is done within autotrack and not within myriad, there really should be a 're-read' option within myriad.

Paul,

there are many more than one database.  theres the autotrack database, the advert database, the myriad database and the main schedule database

autotrack squirts the schedule into the main schedule database
ad manager squirts ads into the main schedule database

autotrack also squirts info into the myriad database which populates the database tab on your myriad.  This database is what causes the problem when you overwrite a cart with a different track - drag the track to the schedule and it shows the old track in the log but the new track on the audiowall.  Remove all song and link info from the myriad database and it solves the problem - drag a new cart in and it shows the correct title.

My question was, if this solves it, then apart from the database tab on myriad does it need to be populated with song info for any other reason?  maybe i should have been clearer Smile

Question;  if you dont use the database tab - do you need to populate the myriad side of the database?

reason;

when replacing cart with different songs the title on the audiowall doesnt match whats in the database - you drag the cart to the log and it shows the old song.

we dont want to keep on sending updates from autotrack because to be honest it's caused us to crash many times in the past.

so, we just removed all the info from the myriad side database and this solved the problem, dchange the cart, drag it in and the title is right now

so do we actually need the myriad side of the database if we dont use the tab? - we use the search and it works fine
