JOB DESCRIPTION
This is very much an operational post which focuses onsupporting the business in utilising technology effectively & efficientlyto achieve business targets & keep our radio stations on air and makinggreat radio. You’ll be part of a bigger team reporting to theRegional Team Leader for the area in which the Broadcast Centre falls. You’ll need to be prepared to travel to other sites in the Broadcast Centreregion, or elsewhere, as required. You’ll work with the Team Leader aspart of the team in resource planning across the relevant sites to ensure thatall work is carried out with maximum positive impact to the business.
What you will be doing
Every day will be different, from mending studios totraining presenters, planning outside broadcasts and fixing PCs and Macs. Youwill be maintaining the broadcast studios and equipment as well as problemsolving around the Broadcast Centre. You'll be helping to maintain our officefacilities and work with external contractors for all sorts of things.
Using your Electronics or IT qualifications you willhelp to integrate new systems and maybe even develop solutions to problems wedidn't even know we had. You will be excellent at communicating with ourpeople, logging problems & solutions in our helpdesk systems. You will bethe go-to person when someone asks how-do-I?
You're experience of working at a student, communityor existing radio station in a technical capacity will empower you to graspproblems and own them 24/7 as part of our regional call out team.

To you a problem is a challenge, an opportunity.You’ll know when to play by the rules and when to think outside thebox. You’ll need to know when to get down in the detail and when to lookat the bigger picture.
A lot of your time will be spent working remotely fromyour manager and team so you’ll need to be able to deliver results and keepthat hunger to succeed without being constantly managed. That said you’llneed to be a good team player and able to say it how it is.
You’ll need to be flexible and able to do two thingsat once, and be able to prioritise, applying your understanding to theneeds of the business. You’ll be managing expectations to build trust andloyalty with those you work with, both inside and outside the business. You’ll have the courage to listen and heed the advice of those around you.
A clean driving licence is a must, as well as beingwilling to travel to other Broadcast Centres as required.
When you make it to interview we will be looking foryou to demonstrate a basic understanding of component electronics and an abilityto diagnose and fix computer problems. You will be expected to explain to usthe work you have done installing or fixing radio studios in perhaps thestudent or community radio world and discuss various technical options fordelivering outside broadcasts. This is a technical role where itwill be essential to have an understanding of Ohm’s law and IP SubnetMasking. Production skills are an advantage, but less important.
