The layla itself isn't particularly power hungry - it's just a caution note as modern pc's are very power intensive, and because the Layla is entirely powered by the PC we had some concerns about users just sticking them straight into pc's that are already over loaded. As it is there are other concerns about the Layla (see the notes about the AutoHook feature etc.) but I run one here in my development PC and it runs fine for short term use. We haven't tried 2 4-4s in a single machine but I guess theres probably no reason why they shouldn't work - it will be interesting to hear how you get on if you decide to give it a try.
