On the subject of soundcard drivers, I recently updated our Echo Gina drivers to try and combat a timing problem but came across a bit of a puzzler. I was just wondering if anybody else had come across a similar problem.

We use hardware commands in our News In and News Out carts that set and clear our news channel. The Extro point on the News In jingle sets the news channel and the Intro Start on the News Out clears it.

Upon updating to 6.08 from 6.04 and switching the channel mode to Pure Wave in Console3 (because I thought it’s be a good idea), I found that the clear command no longer worked at Intro Start or Intro End but it did work at the Extro point. I also found that the channel would clear if the clear command was at either of the Intro points and the News Out cart was re-cued manually.

After switching the mode back to WDM, the clear command worked at Intro End but still not at Intro Start.
It’s not a major problem (I got round the problem by having a 0.01s intro) but I thought I’d better mention it in case this has wider implications.
