So we don't have an internet connection yet and MSF etc cannot be recieved reliably inside the hospital.  Any clues on how to sync the time to something...

My first thought is to see if we can do something using a DVB card from Freeview or sat.  Anyone know if this is even possible.

Have you looked into doing it using GPS?

There are some cheap usb/serial GPS units on eBay, it's something I played with before getting a net connection.

We've ditched IRN until we get the internet sorted.  IT are going to add us to the DMZ next week so hopefully not long now.

Just to chip in, we're using the Windows port of ntpd: http://www.meinberg.de/english/sw/ntp.htm

This runs on all the machines and we run our own stratum 2 time server on one of our Linux boxes, which peers off the JANET stratum 1 server which in turn peers off the MSF signal at stratum 0. You can probably get a decent sync to atomic time off public NTP servers, though - try uk.pool.ntp.org.
