Hi folks, this is my first post so please bear with me ..

We have a very basic 2 PC Myriad setup, but were thinking of using an external usb fileserver as the central data storage unit for our audiowall. Is this an option in the long-term, or should these types of units only be used for backups ?

I assume the majority will not recommend the above setup, therefore what should be the minimum spec if we were going to invest in a new PC that would act as our server ? And would Win2003 Server be preferred to WinXP Pro ?

Thanks,

Peter.

Hi Peter,

In general, the USB type drives are best reserved for backup use, but some people have got on well with them.

Personally, my preference is always for "proper" PC storage, but thats just my thoughts!

For a server spec, have a read of http://forum.psquared.net/Topic1977-29-1.aspx as this will hopefully give you some food for thought.
