Hello has anybody on the list, had any experience of using shoutcast, to stream audio on the net?

And is it possible to use OCP with it?

Thanks

I use it all the time for us, when we broadcast, and others. If you need a cheap 'n' chearful way of streaming media (be warned it only works properly if your listeners have Realplayer or Winamp - windows media sometimes plays it and sometimes does not!).

I don't use OCP but I just split the audio before it enters the transmitter and send it into a PC running winamp with the shoutcast plugin. It works fine.

If you catch blink practicing for their RSL next week you can listen live at http://radio.davz.net/. Otherwise you will get a correct feed, but it will be nothing/static. Their stream jumps a bit cos they are running it at 96kb/sec on a 512K ADSL connection which is pushing it a bit!

A good example of a Myriad/OCP/Shoutcast combo is the american dance station music1 - www.m1live.com

Although of the top of my head I can't remember the exact version of shoutcast they are running, I believe it's one of the latest releases, and yes OCP is quite happy sending information to the shoutcast server for display in WinAMP etc.

We have used shoutcast 3 times now to broadcast the Hospital Radio annual awards ceremony. We simply took mixer output to a PC, encoded it, linked it to Radica, who distribute the signal. A second PC was used to monitor the signal.

And all done via a 2 x 64k ISDN with no problems at all.

Of course if you wanted a more familiar streaming provider, you can always contact our sister company www.planetwideradio.com BigGrin
