Using MP3 files instead of WAVS?

We are using Myriad version 3..6.2 and want to ask if this version is ok with using MP3 audio files if so is it better to keep everything as MP3 or can you have WAV files aswell as MP3 files within the same audio wall. What was the reason in the earlier versions to only support WAV files.

Just wanted to ask this as we are unsure about mixing MP3`s with WAVS within Myriad V 3.6.2.

Thanks.

Original versions of Myriad only supported wav's because originally that's all PC's could manage without big expensive hardware cards (like the Digigram mp2 playback hardware) - but admittedly we're talking the 90's here!

Once Myriad 3.5 came round this brought mp2, mp3, ogg, wma etc. as well which is very useful, but craig is absolutely right in that WAV is best, not least because there is no loss in quality with subsequent editing.

The other biggie is that some mp3's are a little slower to start playback - this isn't any issue with items that are already in a cart player ready to play, but can be noticeable with Instant Carts as you get a slight delay when you hit the number to play.

If possible, stick with WAV's as you get the best quality possible
