Support for 'Linking' Carts to Audio Files to be discontinued

Hi All,

As part of our ongoing development of products that use the Audiowall (i.e. Myriad, Scoop, AutoTrack and OCP) we regret to annouce that we will no longer be including support for 'Linked' audio files.

This legacy Myriad v2 feature allowed you to 'link' carts to existing Audio files rather than importing them into your Audiowall folder. Usually this was only used as a temporary measure when migrating from other filename based playout systems, or for users with particularly small hard drives so spread the audiowall across a number of computers.

The vast majority of our customers have never used this feature, and it often causes problems when customers have accidentally linked to files via drive letters (instead of UNC's) or on machines that are then powered off.

Several of the new features that we are adding to Myriad and AutoTrack mean that Linked files are no longer practicable and therefore we will be removing this facility in a forthcoming release of the affect products.

Myriad v3.5.15 is therefore the last version that contains support for this feature.

Anyone using this feature should plan to import their audiofiles directly onto the Audiowall and remove the links as we cannot guarantee that any future releases of Myriad will work with this configuration.
