Why does audio sometimes stutter when I change Q-NXT Mode?

This information is only applicable to Myriad v2.

This usually only happens on computers that aren't running the latest Windows Updates (as well as the latest MDAC and JET 4 Service packs from http://msdn.microsoft.com/data/downloads/updates/default.aspx ) or if you have a large number of Myriad terminals running simultaneously.

The reason this happens is when Myriad writes an event to the user history and another computer has left a database \"lock\" on part of the user history so Myriad has to wait a mo until the lock is lifted. If it has to wait more than 4 or 5 seconds then the audio can stutter slightly as it tries to keep up.

The workaround is to \"Inhibit the User History\" - this stops a given terminal writing anything to the user history so the problem never arises.

The only draw back to this is obviously you can't see when users edit/delete carts or change the q-nxt log mode as these are inhibited from being written.

To Inhibit the User History, quit from Myriad and go into Myriad Configuration. On the menu bar at the top, click Options then click Inhibit User History. then quit Myriad Config and restart Myriad.

That should be it :-)
