I have run Scoop EDIT (2.1 beta) on a windows XP box now for two weeks (we only got it about two weeks and three days ago; our two week RSL ends today). No problems or crashes at all. In fact, more reliable than other software that we have had on W2K.
Other than that we run the rest of the station on W2K - the IT dept just installed XP on this one when it was installed a day before the RSL and we did not have time to change it back. Since it works I will leave it!
